Double Dutch Bakery

Brand Design, Photography, Illustration, Signage, Social Media

A comprehensive branding project, celebrating local business, and great bread.

Double Dutch Bakery is a new bakery-cafe in Melbourne's inner-west. Launched by Rumble Coffee Roasters, in collaboration with expert baker Jacob Dekker.

With an exisiting brand identity and base of loyal customers, the team at Rumble required a unique branding strategy and strong brand identity that would differentiate their new small business, whilst keeping it consistent with their own branding style.

The goal was to also establish Double Dutch Bakery as the new spot for coffee and baked goods in the inner-west of Melbourne. And that’s where we got to work together. Rumble required a versatile and unique logo, which would stand the test of time, and communicate their playful and down-to-earth brand personality. Following that, they required a wide range of secondary branding assets, to help build and solidify the Double Dutch brand identity

As the cafe was built, we encorporated hand-painted signage for the interior of their new cafe, signage design for the exterior of the space, a set of illustrations showcasing the offering of the bakery, staff merch, photography, website design, and content strategy for their social media.

The branding decisions were made to create a strong and timeless brand that would be well-received by the local community of Kensington and Flemington, and ultimately help create a brand identity that would hold it's own, even as 'trendy' branding evolves through time.
